Vintage 4.5cm Solid Silver Marcasite Bird Brooch c1950

  

VINTAGE SOLID SILVER & MARCASITE BIRD BROOCH. This lovely brooch is a genuine vintage piece, dating to the middle of the Twentieth Century c. The brooch only has a pattern number of 252 to the back and although there are no silver markings it is solid silver.

The bird design, pin, clasp and manufacture are all the same as the Australian Lega brooches. It is quite possible this is a Lega piece but there are no such markings. The design features a bird of paradise and stylized ribbons.

There are no missing stones. There are two abraded stones seen in close up.

The piece is simply marked Sterling to the back. The pin is in good condition and has a roll over locking clasp that fastens securely. There is the added feature of a sterling silver safety chain and pin. The brooch measures an impressive 4.5cm long.
