Antique Victorian 18K GoldEnameled Parrot BirdRubies+Diamonds+Pear+SapphirelBrooch Pin. This is a stunning antique brooch. I have only seen a couple like this but they were missing stones or had problem with enameling.

It has a standard C catch and a long pin that extends well beyond the catch which is typical of pins from this period. This brooch has the density and color of high grade gold and it holds strong at 18K karat but it could be higher. The detail of the feathers throughout is incredible including the muted multi-color enameling on the Parrot, setting of all the old mine cut stones and Pearl held in gold wire caging... You have to see it in person to appreciate it. The enamel may some wear spots commensurate with the age of the piece but overall is complete and intact.

Likewise the long tail feather extending out the bottom has 5 old mine cut red rubies and 6 antique mine cut small natural diamonds. There are tiny ruby as the eye bezel set.. One of the Parrots claw holds a small round bezel set natural sapphire stone with white fresh water pearl below held in a gold wire cage setting.. This antique Parrot Bird measures 1 1/2 or 40mm Long from top of the head to the bottom of the tail feather by 1/2 inch or 13mm across the middle of the Parrot Body... With good weight of 8.7 Grams... Antique "C" clasp closure for straight pin mechanism.. This fine antique parrot brooch pin has dark green and brown hand enameled colors with strong beak..
