The diamonds are a mix of rose-cut and old european cut gemstones. The bird measures 31 x 15mm. Not hallmarked - tested as 15ct gold. DATE: Edwardian (1901 to 1910).This exceptional diamond bird, bar brooch is beautifully presented in a new black leatherette and velvet box as displayed. Considered one of the original diamond cuts, the rose cut diamond dates back to the early 1500s. With anywhere from three to 24 triangular facets, rose cut diamonds peak into a dome or kite-shape.
This structure resembles the soft curve of a rose petal, hence its name. Please note that images have been enlarged to show detail. All measurements are listed in the description.
