Vintage late 1940s or early 1950s sterling brooch from Georg Jensen features the iconic dove design created for him in the early 1900s by Danish artist Christian Mohl-Hansen. Beak nestled peacefully in its right wing, the bird is surrounded by an oblong wreath of leaves with a silver "pearl" in each corner. The beautifully detailed piece, handmade like all Jensen silver, is a wonderful blend of swirling, hand-hammered or polished texture, and stylized modernism. The reverse is stamped with the company's post-1945 mark above the words "Sterling" and "Denmark", and then the design number, 204.
Measuring 1 ½' x 1 1/8 and with a digital weight of 10.486 grams, the brooch is in excellent condition, the pin catch is in perfect working order. This is from an antique collection I inherited.Remember, colors vary from monitor to monitor, so color is close, but may differ in real life. Sometimes that patina of age can add value to a piece.
