Vintage antique David-Andersen Norway 925 Sterling blue enamel bird of paradise brooch. Very rare stunning piece in very good condition no losses to enamel work. The company was founded in 1876 and is still in business today.
David Anderson died in 1901 and the company was taken over by his son Arthur. He put the hyphen in the company name. He also began using enamelling techniques and the hollowware range. Height 2 or 5 cm.
Width 2 or 5 cm. The body of the bird is mainly an intense dark blue enamel with a highlight of pale blue enamel.
The feathers are pale blue enamel with the tips in dark blue enamel. The metalwork on the back is gold plated with a dark gold finish. The bodywork is silver and you can see this showing through on the edges.
