Here's a vintage c1950s brooch from Sassari, Italy. It is crafted of solid 18K yellow gold. The detailed design appears to be inspired by ancient jewelry--perhaps Phoenician. The design has good movement as the top and bottom are separate pieces, and the pieces are decorated with dangling gold bars and a coral bead.

The brooch is solidly constructed with a nice weight. A lovely and unusual vintage gold brooch. 750 for gold content (tested to verify); maker's mark 8 SS (SS stands for Sassari, a city in Sardinia).
